Number 3

UK First Edition

1888

In Black and White by Rudyard Kipling is for sale. In Black and White is Number 3 in the Indian Railway Library series.  In Black and White is the first UK issue published by Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington in London which is not dated but was published in 1888.

Rudyard Kipling was born on 30th December 1865 and so was just 23 years of age when In Black and White was published, making this one of the first Rudyard Kipling books to have been published.

The In Black and White original green-grey soft covers are in Good condition being amazingly still attached to the book though with chips and losses, fading, and slight loss to the spine which is expected for a paperback book published over 120 years ago.

There are 96 numbered pages that contain the Title Page, an Introduction by Kadir Baksh, Khitmatgar and 8 Rudyard Kipling short stories as follows: Dray Wara Yow Dee, The Judgement of Dungara, At Howli Thana, Gemini, At Twenty-Two, In Flood Time, The Sending of Dana Da, and On The City Wall.

The pages are all firmly bound together and in overall Very Good condition.
